General questions

I have lost all my keys: what should I do?

Don't panic: a new key can be made from the vehicle itself, then programmed. E-mail us at contact@europekey.fr with the make, model and year (or the registration) and where the car is: we give you the price before any work. If the keys were stolen, also report it to the police.

How much does a car key cost?

It depends on the vehicle and the type of key: plain blade, chipped key, remote, keyless. We give you the price before any work, from the make, model and year.

Which makes do you handle?

Every vehicle is different. Tell us the make, model and year (or the registration): we tell you whether we can make your key before any work.

What does key programming mean?

Most recent keys have a chip the car's immobiliser must recognise for the engine to start, and a remote that must be paired to lock and unlock. Programming a key means registering it in the car.

My remote has stopped working: does it need replacing?

Not necessarily: it is often the battery, sometimes the shell or programming. Send us a photo of the key and the vehicle and we tell you what to do.

Where do you work?

Tell us where the car is: we tell you whether we can do the work.

Spare key

How much does it cost?

It depends on the vehicle and the type of key (plain blade, chipped key, remote, keyless). We give you the price before any work: you decide with full knowledge.

Why get a spare while my key still works?

Because making a key when none are left is more complicated: it then has to start from the car itself (see “all keys lost”). With a working key, the spare is made from it.

Do you handle every make?

Tell us the make, model and year (or the registration): we tell you whether we can make your key, and the price, before any work.

We answer

Programming

Why bring all my keys?

On many vehicles, programming registers every key at once: a key missing that day may no longer start the car. We tell you beforehand, depending on your vehicle.

Can a lost key be stopped from starting the car?

On many vehicles, yes: programming removes the keys that are gone from the car's memory. Tell us your vehicle and we tell you whether it is possible.

We answer

All keys lost

Does the car have to be moved?

Tell us where it is: we agree the place of the work with you before giving you the price.

Will my old keys still start the car?

On many vehicles, we can remove the lost keys from the car's memory. Tell us your vehicle and we tell you whether it is possible.

We answer

Car remote

My remote is dead but the key starts the car: is it serious?

No: you can still unlock with the blade and start the car. It is often the battery, sometimes the remote itself. Send us a photo of the key and the vehicle: we tell you what to do.

We answer

Shell and battery

Can I change the battery myself?

Often, yes: the vehicle handbook shows how to open the key and which battery to use. If in doubt, or if the key still does not respond with a new battery, contact us.
